Rainy Lake Houseboats is a great alternative to a Canada Vacation
Are you tired of the hassles at both the Canada and United States border crossings? Are you unsure if all members of your party will be admitted to Canada, don’t want to sit in the long line returning to the United States, why spend all that money and can’t even have a fish fry when you get home, or prices have increased so much because of the exchange rate that it is just to expensive to go?
We are hearing all these statements continually. Each year at our business we have five to six groups per year show up at our door after being denied entrance to Ontario. Times have changed drastically since 911. The United States has new requirements coming back to the US. On February 1, 2008 you must have two forms of identification in order to reenter your own country (all people in the vehicle). In 2009 a passport will be required for all occupants of the vehicle (including children). I do not know of anyone in border country who likes these new regulations but it is the way it will be for the foreseeable future.
However there is hope! You can still have that Canadian wilderness fishing experience with out going to Canada. You drive along Rainy Lake for many miles every time you go east of Fort Frances, Ontario. Rainy Lake is 225,000 acres of beautiful Canadian Shield geography. The United States side of Rainy Lake is home to Voyageurs National Park. There are no resorts (inside the park), virtually all cabins have been removed leaving an enchanting paradise for you to visit.
Most people don’t realize the opportunity that lies on the lake they are driving by. There are less than one handful of tourist operators servicing Voyageurs National Park and Rainy Lake. Rainy Lake is the lake you hear all the fishing shows talk about. Rainy was the first lake in Minnesota to establish an effective selective harvest system for walleyes. The slot limit has been in effect for twelve years and has been wildly successful. You can keep and eat walleyes, take walleyes home, keep a trophy if you desire, while still protecting Rainy Lake’s massive brood stock!
Do you dream about taking that dandy fishing boat you own on a wilderness fishing trip? There are no horsepower restrictions on Rainy Lake. It may be the only wilderness setting in the lower forty eight states that you can use your fishing machine.
A Rainy Lake Houseboat is the perfect way to enjoy Rainy Lake with you family or friends. You leave our base located one mile outside the boundary of Voyageurs National Park and embark on a wilderness journey you will never forget. You are free to travel as you wish; you have no schedule but your own. Our houseboats have all the modern conveniences of home. You can view each of our houseboats on our web site www.rainylakehouseboats.com Give us a call and we’ll be more than happy to help plan your trip to Rainy Lake and Voyageurs National Park.
